|Ralph Richardson (1902 - 1983)
Mr. Meriel Forbes
|Things to Come (1936) [The Boss]: Dies of a heart attack from fright when Raymond Massey's planes release a sleeping gas, which Ralph assumes to be a poison-gas attack.
The Citadel (1938) [Dr. Denny]: Hit by a car when he drunkenly staggers into the street; he dies on the operating table shortly afterwards while Robert Donat and Cecil Parker attempt to save him. (We only see Robert and Cecil during the surgery, and not Ralph.)
The Heiress (1949) [Dr. Austin Sloper]: Dies (off-screen) of lung disease. We only see a scene of his daughter (Olivia de Havilland) being summoned to his deathbed and refusing to come.
Woman of Straw (1964) [Charles Richmond]: Killed (off-screen) by Sean Connery; his body is shown throughout the rest of the movie after Sean and Gina Lollobrigida place him in his wheelchair to make it look as though Ralph is just asleep.
Watership Down (1978; animated) [Chief Rabbit]: Providing the voice of a rabbit, he is poisoned (off-screen), along with all the other rabbits who refused to leave the warren, when the developers exterminate them.
Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes (1984) [The Sixth Earl of Greystoke]: Fatally injured in a fall down a staircase when he tries to relive his childhood by sliding down the stairs on a silver tray. (Thanks to Philip)
