Miles Mander just before his death in 'Murder, My Sweet'
Miles Mander (1888 - 1946)
Phantom of the Opera (1943) [Pleyel]: Strangled by Claude Rains, who believed that Miles had stolen his music. (Thanks to Jeffrey)

Murder, My Sweet (Farewell, My Lovely) (1944) [Mr. Grayle]: Shot to death (off-camera) by Mike Mazurki, after Miles shoots Mike first. The scene goes to black after Miles' first shot blinds Dick Powell, and Dick is later informed that Mike got hold of Miles' gun and killed Miles before dying himself.
